Interference and interactions inmesoscopic rings

چکیده
We consider a mesoscopic ring connected to external reservoirs by tunnel junctions. The ring is capacitively coupled to an external gate electrode and may be pierced by a magnetic eld. Due to strong electron–electron interactions within the ring the conductance shows Coulomb blockade oscillations as a function of the gate voltage, while Aharonov–Bohm interference e ects lead to a dependence on the magnetic ux. The Hamiltonian of the ring is given by a Luttinger model that allows for an exact treatment of both interaction and interference e ects. We conclude that the positions of conductance maxima as a function the external parameters can be used to determine the interaction parameter g, and the shapes of conductance peaks are strongly a ected by electron correlations within the ring. ? 1997 Elsevier Science B.V. Quantum beating in ring conductance: Observation of spin chiral states and Berry’s phase
– We propose and demonstrate experimentally a novel configuration for observing spin interference effects in mesoscopic rings. Using this configuration, in which the conducting ring and the tangential current lead form a single collimating contact, we have observed the spin quantum beating in the Aharonov-Bohm conductance oscillations. We demonstrate that the beating is the result of the superp...
متن کاملCalculating Magnetic Permeability Response of a Conducting Square Ring Structure
In the present work, we investigate the tunability of the magnetic response of a new structure. A lattice of periodically arranged close-packed square conducting rings has been studied for this purpose. Here, instead of enhancing the magnetic activity via resonance, like in split-ring resonators, we concentrate on the analysis of the interactions between these rings. The core idea is to design ...
متن کاملMutual interplay between interactions of pi electrons with simultaneous σ-hole interactions: A computational Study
In this study, the role of interaction of pi electrons on the strength of simultaneous σ-hole interactions (pnicogen, chalcogen and halogen bonds) is investigated using the quantum chemical calculations. X-ben||TAZ∙∙∙Y1,Y2,Y3 complexes (X = CN, F, Cl, Br, CH3 , OH and NH2, TAZ= s-triazine and Y1,Y2 and Y3 denotes PH2F, HSF, and ClF molecules) is introduced as a model. The results show that inte...

A C102H30 graphene sheet has been rolled up to construct Single-Walled Carbon NanoTube Fragments (SWCNTFs) as parts of armchair carbon nanotubes by computational quantum chemistry methods. Non-covalent cation-π interactions of the Na+ cation on the central rings of SWCNTFs have investigated. The binding energies of the Na+-SWCNTF complexes versus ...
متن کاملQuantum-interference-controlled molecular electronics.
Quantum interference in coherent transport through single molecular rings may provide a mechanism to control the current in molecular electronics. We investigate its applicability, using a single-particle Green function method combined with ab initio electronic structure calculations. We find that the quantum interference effect (QIE) is strongly dependent on the interaction between molecular p...
